What Botox treats

Upper face (the classics). Frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines and crow’s feet are FDA-approved uses of Botox Cosmetic (along with vertical neck bands), and they’re what most clients start with.

Lip flip. A few units along the upper lip let it roll out slightly, so it looks a little fuller when you smile. No filler involved. Good if you want a subtle change, or as a first step before deciding on lip filler.

Gummy smile. A tiny dose above the upper lip reduces how far the lip lifts, so less gum shows when you smile.

Brow lift. Relaxing the muscle that pulls the tail of the brow down gives a small, natural-looking lift.

Jaw slimming (masseter Botox). Botox in the jaw muscle can soften a square jawline for a slimmer, more contoured look. Results build over several weeks and tend to last longer than in the upper face. Because it relaxes the muscle used to clench, it’s also commonly used by people who clench or grind. We offer it as an aesthetic treatment. Learn more in our guide to masseter Botox in Las Vegas.

Underarm sweating. Botox can sharply reduce underarm sweat for several months.

Lip flip, gummy smile, brow lift and jaw treatments are common, well-established uses, though they’re considered off-label. We’ll walk you through what to expect for each at your consultation.

Who does your Botox

Your Botox is done by one of our licensed medical injectors, including nurse practitioners and registered nurses. Every treatment happens in our West Flamingo studio, never by a technician. Here’s what to expect, from your first visit to aftercare.

  1. Consultation (free). We look at how your face moves, talk about what’s bothering you, and agree on areas and units. You’ll get a price before anything happens.
  2. Treatment (about 15 minutes). We clean the skin and use a very fine needle. Most people describe it as a few quick pinches. Numbing is rarely needed.
  3. Back to your day. Small bumps fade within about 20 minutes. Most clients go straight back to work.
  4. Free two-week follow-up. We see you again at two weeks to check results and make small adjustments, at no charge.

You’ll start noticing a difference in 3 to 5 days, with full results at about two weeks. Upper-face results usually last three to four months. Jaw treatments often last longer.

  • Stay upright for about 4 hours.
  • Skip hard workouts, saunas and hot yoga for 24 hours.
  • Don’t rub or massage the treated areas that day.
  • Makeup is fine after a few hours.

Botox is a good fit for most healthy adults who want softer expression lines or one of the targeted treatments above. It isn’t recommended if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain neuromuscular conditions, have an active skin infection where you’d be injected, or have reacted to a botulinum toxin product before. We go through your health history at your consultation.

All three are neuromodulators that relax the muscles behind expression lines. Botox is the most studied and the one most clients know by name. Jeuveau is designed specifically for cosmetic use, and Xeomin is a “naked” formula without the extra proteins found in the others. Your injector will recommend the best fit. See our full guide to neuromodulators in Las Vegas, or read about Jeuveau and Xeomin.

Want to restore volume rather than relax lines? That’s what dermal fillers do, and many clients pair the two.

Absolutely. Men often need a few more units because their facial muscles tend to be stronger. Forehead lines, frown lines and jaw slimming are the most common requests.

Botox relaxes muscles to smooth lines that form when you move. Filler adds volume to areas like the lips, cheeks or under-eyes. They’re often used together.

Yes. Botox in the masseter muscle softens a square jawline over several weeks. It’s also commonly used by people who clench or grind, though we offer it as an aesthetic treatment. If you have jaw pain or think you may have TMJ, talk with your dentist or physician.

Botox is the best-known wrinkle relaxer. “Wrinkle relaxer” is the general name for this group of treatments, which also includes Jeuveau and Xeomin. All of them soften the lines that form when you make expressions, like frowning or squinting.

Regular treatment keeps the muscles behind expression lines from creasing the skin as deeply, which can slow how quickly those lines set in.
